This is a tutorial for setting up a DD-WRT\u00a0router to have a\u00a0separate isolated (virtual) guest wifi access point. At the end of the tutorial you will have two wifi networks, one private, and one public for the guests. Guests will not have access to the router or anything else on your network.<\/p>\n

  1. Your build must be \u2265 23020. There should be a network already running and you can access the internet.\"0<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Create the virtual access point for your guests.\n

    1. Go to Wireless\u00a0-> Basic Setup <\/strong><\/li>\n
    2. Click\u00a0Add<\/strong>\u00a0in Virtual Interfaces<\/strong>. Fill out the details as in the image.\"1<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
    3. Optional:<\/strong> Go to Wireless -> Wireless Security<\/strong>, choose your encryption for\u00a0the\u00a0guest wifi.<\/li>\n
    4. Now enable DHCPD<\/strong> for the guest wifi so IP addresses can be assigned.\n

      1. Go to\u00a0Setup->Networking<\/strong> and add another dhcp server<\/strong> for the guest network as shown.\"2<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
      2. Optional:<\/strong> Setup\u00a0Quality of service<\/b> (QoS<\/b>) to limit guest network bandwidth.\n

        1. Configure\u00a0QoS as shown.\"3<\/li>\n

        3. Restart the router.\u00a0Important because I found sometimes changing settings they take a while to activate and you’re not sure if it has had any effect.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
